Woolgar Hunter attend the formal handover of David Livingstone Memorial Primary School
As part of South Lanarkshire Council's flagship school programme, this project involved the demolition of the existing school and construction of a replacement building to provide a high quality learning environment for the pupils of David Livingstone Memorial Primary School. Woolgar Hunter provided civil and structural engineering services for the project which was handed over some 12 weeks earlier than programmed by the main contractor, South Lanarkshire Council Building Services.
The Building provides flexible teaching accommodation arranged around a landscaped courtyard and also includes a nursery, gym / assembly hall, dining hall, kitchen and associated administration and storage spaces. In addition, the school incorporates and Additional Support Needs (ASN) base. The structure comprises of a braced steel frame, which provides the open plan, flexible space required, whilst exposed glulam structure provides an architectural feature to the main entrance elevation, courtyard and social spaces. Externally, the school benefits from a large landscaped courtyard, MUGA and extensive playground.
