Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy

1.0     Introduction from the Managing Director

1.1        Slavery and Human trafficking remains a blight on our global society. We all have a   responsibility to be alert to the risks, however small, in our business and in our wider supply chain.

2.0    Organisation’s Structure

2.1        Woolgar Hunter is a private limited company, providing professional engineering services.         The group has its head office in Glasgow and all trading offices are within the UK.

3.0    Our Business

3.1        Woolgar Hunter is organised into four business units providing Structural, Civil, Geo-     environmental and Telecommunications consultancy services.

4.0    Our Supply Chains

4.1        Woolgar Hunter’s supply chains include the sourcing of office consumables and professional sub consultancy services. Staff are also recruited on occasion via external agencies.

5.0    Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

5.1        Woolgar Hunter is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business.  Our Anti-Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships; and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.

6.0    Due Diligence Processes for Slavery and Human Trafficking

6.1        As part of Woolgar Hunter’s initiative to identify and mitigate risk: -

  • Woolgar Hunter has created a culture of trust and open-ness in which staff are expected to report any concerns and management are expected to act upon them.
  • Woolgar Hunter will ensure that all staff have a written contract of employment, and that staff from overseas are legally able to work in the UK.
  • If sourced via a recruitment agency, Woolgar Hunter will check that the Agency provides assurance that the appropriate checks have been made on the candidate(s).
  • Woolgar Hunter will ensure that all staff are aware of their statutory rights.
  • Quotations we receive from our suppliers will be assessed for abnormally low rates that could be an indicator of untoward activity.
  • We have in place systems to encourage the reporting of concerns and the protection of whistle blowers.
  • Woolgar Hunter’s formal supplier approval form questions our suppliers’ awareness and control of this matter.

7.0    Supplier Adherence to Our Values

7.1        We have zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. We expect all those in our supply chain and contractors comply with our values.

8.0    Training

8.1        To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training to relevant members of staff. All Directors have been briefed on the subject.

9.0    Our Effectiveness in Combating Slavery and Human Trafficking

9.1        We use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure how effective we have been to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains.

  • Use of Human resource and payroll systems.
  • Level of communication and personal contact with next link in the supply chain and their understanding of, and compliance with, our expectations.
