This high profile Grade ‘A’ office development involved the demolition of the existing 1960’s Colville House office block on Bothwell Street, Glasgow and the reconstruction of an entirely new 10-storey building providing around 180,000ft2 of high quality office space.
The building, which lies in the heart of the city’s International Financial Services District, occupies the entire length of a city block. In order to maximise parking provision, two full levels of basement car parking were provided using car lifts for access.

Engineering Excellence
The basement works, which were substantial in themselves, were further complicated by the steep rise in Douglas Street giving a basement excavation of some 14m at the rear of the site. The basement is formed using a full profile contiguous piled wall, which is braced in the temporary state prior, with large diameter steel tubes. The project was completed successfully and has created one of the most prestigious office spaces in the city.
