Woolgar Hunter engineered the masterplan for the redevelopment of Candleriggs, a major regeneration project on a large brownfield site in central Glasgow. The site houses both the Social Hub student/mixed-use hotel, and the 300+ bed Candleriggs BTR development. THe BTR scheme houses communal spaces including a gym and landscaped roof terraces for residents, while an active ground floor connects new retail and leisure units to the newly developed public square.
Engineering Excellence
The Student Hotel This new eight storey hotel accommodates a mix of users, including students, hotel guests, and longer-term residents in a range of room offerings. The 500 ensuite rooms have access to communal kitchens. The building also features two levels of communal spaces for both residents and the public, housing co-working spaces, meeting rooms, and a bar and restaurant. Built on the historic site of Victorian commercial and residential properties, the hotel is configured around the last remaining building, adapting to the constraints of it’s urban environment.
