Woolgar Hunter has provided civil, structural and environmental engineering services on this recently completed Built to Rent development in Edinburgh. Built for Goodstone Living, the waterfront development boasts 373 apartments over four buildings, reaching up to fourteen storeys, with commercial space at ground level.
The 2.5 acre site includes 1.3 acres of newly developed public realm space, making use of its location in the historic Albert Docks, Leith. Resident amenities include landscaped gardens, a fitness centre, coworking spaces and accessible rooftops to make use of the waterfront views.
Engineering Excellence
The harbourside location required significant ground investigation to ascertain ground conditions and groundwater levels, and our inhouse geo-environmental team worked with the civil and structural engineers to develop a suitable piling and foundations scheme. The structure comprises in situ concrete frames and post-tensioned floor slabs supported from the new piled foundation system.
