This 12-storey reinforced concrete framed residential development on Whitworth street, Manchester was constructed, consisting of two primary concrete blocks separated by an atrium across.

Engineering Excellence
The concrete frames utilised cast insitu wall and slab construction, walls being utilised as spanning elements. The atrium has tapered fabricated steel roof beams from which are hung a system of precast concrete access walkways. This unusual configuration for a residential building creates a dynamic centre piece to the building enhanced by the exposed functional structural elements.
There is a full basement car park below the building. The site abuts the Rochdale canal and the new basement level is 4m below water level Significant water ingress had to be dealt with during construction due to canal leakage.
