The First Group

Sector:

Residential/BTR

This landmark project involved the construction of a 34 storey building with double basement. The basement and lower ‘podium’ levels home car parking and retail space The residential tower springs from the podium, with swimming pool, gymnasium and plant rooms located at the top of the building.

The tower is ‘H’ shaped on plan with fully glazed elevations providing access to the full perimeter balconies. The balconies vary at each level, creating the visual impression that the tower is ‘twisting’.

Engineering Excellence

The tower structure is of reinforced concrete, with lateral stability produced by the central core. There is a steel ‘screen’ structure to the top of the tower around the pool and plant areas.

The basement excavation, which is adjacent to a canal, was enabled using a sheet piled perimeter wall, inside which the reinforced concrete structure was formed. Large diameter piles and insitu concrete raft form the foundations to the tower block.
