Engineering Excellence
The structure Woolgar Hunter devised is a ten-storey, flat slab construction concrete frame which houses twenty-two rooms per floor. There is also a feature roof top bar/lounge topping the structure. The building sits on a structural podium which allows the close spaced bedroom structure to be opened to create will house a reception, meeting rooms and a bar at the lower levels
The concrete frame utilises slim ‘fin’ columns which are designed to sit within the wall partitions to minimise the intrusion into bedrooms Flat slab construction (ie no downstand beams) allowed prefabrication of the services for a quick and easy installation of the M&E equipment. Reinforced concrete cores provide stability for the building acting as vertical cantilevers. The ground floor slab is suspended from pile caps which are installed to rock.
