This major development for the University of St Andrews in partnership with Campus Living Villages established new student accommodation across three sites in the town. The sites at Albany Park, Agnes Blackadder Hall and University Hall were part of a broader student accommodation masterplan providing 900 new beds and refurbishing large amounts of the existing stock.

Engineering Excellence

The Albany Park site involved demolition of existing residences and the construction of new build apartments, along with shared social areas and conference facilities. The design solution had to navigate considerable constraints and challenges on the site, including planning sensitivities, a culverted watercourse and flood risks.

The University and Agness Blackadder Hall developments required construction of new residences on gap sites abutting existing residence buildings within the North Haugh Campus. Again, the design responded carefully to planning considerations and practical considerations. An existing drainage system had to be worked around, while a structural solution had to be developed to allow a fast-track construction programme to ensure opening on time and minimise disruption to neighbouring residents.
