East Lothian Schools, East Lothian
As part of a framework agreement with Hub South East/ East Lothian Council, Woolgar Hunter have been engaged in a series of refurbishment and extension projects to existing schools; at Ross High, North Berwick High and Gullane Primary.
These projects involve the construction of new steel framed extensions providing additional teaching spaces for the three schools, as well as two new games halls.
The refurbishment to the existing buildings includes alterations to classrooms, new games hall separations walls and a ETFE roof over a courtyard to increase internal social space. The development also involved extensive infrastructure works as well as an external sports pitch.
These projects present design and logistical challenges, working within operational school environments with the additional constraints of existing below ground services and drainage to be worked around. Innovative SuDS drainage schemes were required to minimise discharge to the local sewers, given the constraints on the public sewer network.
These projects are now nearing completion on site.
